WERC Welcomes Robert L. Shaunnessey As Executive Director
As the premier association for warehousing and distribution professionals, the Warehousing Education and Research Council's Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert L. Shaunnessey as the association's Executive Director, effective November 10, 2003.
WERC president William T. Gates, CEO, Standard Corporation, A UTi Worldwide Company, notes that "WERC's focus is on warehousing in all of its facets. We are pleased to have someone with Bob's background and know-how - over 30 years of experience in operating logistics facilities and networks. Members look to us for information and contacts, and Bob's exceptional qualifications and his practical knowledge of our industry will provide excellent leadership for WERC."
Commenting on his appointment, Bob says, "I know WERC as a strong, focused organization through the many years that I have been a member. I intend to bring the same solid, practical approach that I have taken in business and apply that to leading WERC, and I am looking forward to working with the key stakeholders to meet member needs and expectations."
Bob's background in the warehousing industry includes six years as a partner of Sterling Logistics Corporation, a third-party logistics company that he helped found. Previous to that he served as President and CEO of Records Management Services reporting to the Chairman of the Board. Bob also served as President of Midwest Distribution for ITEL-GATX and as Executive Vice President, Finance and Administration, for DSC Logistics. Bob holds a BS in Economics and Physics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MBA in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago.
