Sybase And Logica Partner To Mobilise The Supply Chain

Sybase Australia, a leading enterprise infrastructure and mobile software company, recently announced it will partner with leading IT and business services company, Logica, to jointly market Sybase mobility solutions to the Australian logistics and transport industry.

Under the terms of the partnership, Logica will offer Sybase's mobility applications as part of its comprehensive sustainable intelligent transport systems (ITS) and supply chain execution and planning services. These services are augmented by the company's expertise in outsourcing, systems integration, project management, information management, enterprise asset management and mobility services that enable customers to transform and innovate their businesses.

Hugh Bickerstaff, Managing Director, Business Solutions, Logica in Australia, said: "The partnership with Sybase will further enhance our ability to help our customers achieve seamless and sustainable mobility across all modes of transportation. One of Logica's key strengths is our in-depth and longstanding industry knowledge which allows us to maximise the value from key enabling technologies and to align these with the required business transformation in our client's environment. We are dedicated to delivering high quality, innovative services provided by committed local teams and supported by best-in-class global expertise and delivery capability in the ITS arena.

"We will be primarily targeting the logistics and transport industry but will also approach the utilities and energy sector offering a suite of mobility solutions and services which have increasingly become a corporate necessity due to compliance issues."

Logica designs and implements supply-chain technology-related solutions, including large scale deployments of ITS solutions covering Road Charging, E-ticketing, Dynamic Traffic Management, Smart Logistics and EcoMobility, access control, ticketing services, infrastructure monitoring systems, next-generation road pricing services, and road tolling solutions.

"The partnership with Sybase will benefit our customers who increasingly want more business value delivered by fewer strategic partners who can serve them in all the markets in which they do business. By working with Sybase, we will combine our strengths, including our close customer relationships, our innovation capabilities from around the world and our blended delivery model, to ensure we, together, deliver real business value to our customers," said Bickerstaff.

Specific Sybase solutions jointly marketed by the two companies will include RFID Anywhere, a flexible, SOA-based RFID platform that supports RFID handheld and mounted vehicles; Afaria, a mobile device management suite with outstanding security capabilities, and SQL Anywhere, a mobile, rapidly deployable database.

"Sybase is pleased to work with Logica to further facilitate the explosive growth of mobile devices in key industries, including logistics and transport," said Steve Dolan, Director Channels and Alliances, Sybase Australia and New Zealand. "Together we will deliver solutions that meet the business requirements of emerging mobility projects, enabling companies to increase efficiencies in the supply chain and secure mission-critical tasks performed by a mobile field force."
