Supply Chain Recognition: Drummond Group Certifies EXTOL Secure For AS2 Interoperability; EXTOL Named One Of "Big-Three" In EDI Translation Tools

For the third year in a row, EXTOL International has been recognized by Drummond Group, Inc. (DGI) for having been certified for AS2 interoperability with the EXTOL Secure Engine V5R2, an EDI-AS2 translation tool for the IBM OS/400 and Microsoft Windows platforms.

EXTOL Secure is a standards-compliant solution for sending and receiving EDI, XML and other data securely over the Internet. It protects the privacy and integrity of communications with customers, suppliers, remote divisions and other external partners by applying advanced encryption, authentication and non-repudiation methods. EXTOL Secure applies this protection automatically to EDI communications, through its integration with EXTOL EDI Integrator on the OS/400 and Windows platforms.

"As the leading interoperability e-commerce certification company, DGI certified these innovative, interoperable products based on the AS2 standard so companies can communicate better with their supply chains at all levels," said Rik Drummond, DGI's chief executive officer. In announcing the certifications (the third for EXTOL), Drummond said, "State-of-the-art programs such as Drummond Certified empower companies to have a leading edge in the marketplace and deliver a variety of new, interoperable software products designed to enrich business and trading partner relationships worldwide."

In a November 28 article, EXTOL was also named as one of the "Big-Three" providers of EDI-AS2 translation tools by IT Jungle, the online IT reporting service.

EXTOL Secure is used by manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers in multiple industries including apparel, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, logistics, printing and automotive. "Collaboration with customers and suppliers requires a company to respond to demands for a wide array of protocols, formats and business processes," stated Stephen Rosen, Vice President, Marketing of EXTOL. "The EXTOL Secure offering enables a company to utilize secure Internet communications for transaction and document exchange with their partners without the overhead, delays and costs of traditional VAN-based communications. Many of our customers report cutting their partner communications expenses by 50-60%."

Over the past several years, Applicability Statement 2 (AS2) has become the B2B standard for sending and receiving EDI transactions over the Internet. AS2 provides advanced security features for Internet-based transactions. Because trading partners use a variety of EDI-AS2 translation tools running on different platforms, it is crucial that the AS2 link is interoperable, ensuring that EDI documents are not corrupted or misdirected.
