Sterling Commerce Earns Highest Technology Score In Three Categories Of Warehouse Management Report

Sterling Commerce, the multi-enterprise collaboration company, announced today that the company's Yantra Networked Warehouse Management (nWMS) application received the highest technology score for WMS vendors for Discrete, Fast-moving and Third-party Logistics (3PL) Processes in the just-released "The 2005 AMR Research Warehouse Management System Selection Guide." The company also received a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) best-of-breed leader designation.

The AMR Research Warehouse Management System (WMS) Selection Guide is intended to help companies minimize the time of a WMS selection process and improve the opportunity for WMS project success. The report states, "WMS implementations have traditionally required a higher level of customization than any other supply chain management (SCM) applications... SOA allows companies to integrate innovation processes (customization) while still taking advantage of the best practices (upgrades) delivered in product releases." According to the report: "Yantra is fully developed with an SOA and is a leading vendor in technology, with the best business process workflow configurator among the specialty WMS vendors."

"With its service-oriented architecture and process-centric modeling capabilities, Yantra nWMS is highly adaptable, enabling rapid process change that ensures consistency across a multi-site warehouse operation, while providing for facility-specific configuration," said Devdutt Yellurkar, chief marketing officer, Sterling Commerce. "This solution exemplifies Sterling Commerce's commitment to innovation and support for our customers' growth strategies that necessitate an evolution of legacy system environments."

Sterling Commerce's Yantra nWMS provides a central point of control over complex warehouse operations, across multiple facilities of varying types. Its support for radio frequency (RFID) and materials handling integration, and robust planning, execution and measurement tools for distribution managers brings operational discipline to the complex warehouse operations. The technology underpinnings of Yantra nWMS support Sterling Commerce's multi-enterprise collaboration strategy to deliver solutions that enable companies to gain improved visibility and efficiency between trusted business partners.

A May 2005 AMR Research Report stated, "Sterling's strategy is well founded, setting the bar for future needs of managing dynamic trading communities by combining infrastructure and applications (a.k.a. applistructure) to improve the traditional forms of intercompany collaboration."
