Scanco was chosen in Spring 2004 as the developer of MAS 500's Warehouse Automation Module.

Scanco was chosen in Spring 2004 as the developer of MAS 500's Warehouse Automation Module. The module will be sold by Best and will have three major components:

  1. Warehouse Management
  2. Bar Code LabelXpert Designer
  3. Warehouse Automation

All of these pieces will be available with the release of version 7.0. Scanco will offer additional enhancements to these modules to perfectly tailor the solution to the needs of each client. Take a look at the details and let us know what you think!

Warehouse Management Module

  • Zones in Warehouse
  • Assign bins to zones for efficient warehouse layout
  • Reduces number of trips to bins by pickers
  • Track Quantity by Bin
  • Includes improved Distribution screens
  • Users without WM can track lot and serials, but not quantity, at the bin level
  • Three-Step Transfers
  • Select transfer order shipments with sales order shipments for streamlined processing

Bar Code LabelXpert Designer

  • Allows single user to print and design custom bar code labels
  • Can create new label templates in variety of shapes, forms, and sizes
  • Bar code printing from each additional workstation can be purchased
  • This module meets basic competitive and migration need to provide bar code labels

New Warehouse Automation Module

  • Works in conjunction with the Bar Code LabelXpert Designer module
  • Introduces radio frequency communication (WI-FI)
  • Uses economical Windows mobile devices, which are considerably less expensive than traditional handheld bar code scanners
  • Server components
  • Listener for radio frequency communication
  • Dll's that handle validation & execution of MAS 500 stored procedures
  • Launches Bar Code network printing of standard, pre-defined bar code labels (printing by unlimited users)
  • Setup programs for the handheld devices

Handheld components

  • UI software written in Windows Mobile 2003
  • Use any handheld hardware that runs Windows Mobile 2003 (formerly CE.net)

Warehouse Automation Features

  • RF communication to the host system to provide real-time updates
  • Handheld can drop into batch mode if/when necessary
  • Ability to provide "after the fact" updates in the event the MAS 500 server or RF network are temporarily down
