SAP SI America Announces Accelerated ERP Implementation Program For Mid-Market Manufacturers

(Chicago) - At National Manufacturing Week, SAP Systems Integration (SAP SI) America (Atlanta) announced and demonstrated its MaxValu rapid implementation methodology for enterprise resource planning (ERP) deployment. MaxValu is designed to enable mid-market industrial manufacturers to go live in as few as 16 weeks for a fixed price.

SAP SI America developed MaxValu for manufacturers with annual revenues between $200 million and $1.5 billion in the industrial machinery and components (IM&C), high tech, medical equipment, automotive, and aerospace sectors. The methodology is better suited for make-to-stock and make-to-order environments than it is for engineer-to-order operations.

"Based on our experience across numerous implementations within these industries, we developed industry tailored, pre-configured templates that represent how 80% of the industry chose to configure SAP solutions," explained Richard Ogburn, executive vice president, SAP SI America. "Using these templates, we compressed the traditional implementation cycle, which could take a year or more, to three or four months." Templates are available for financials, discrete and repetitive manufacturing, sales order processing, assembly, shipping and billing, engineering change management, master data management, service parts management, procurement and inventory management, and fixed asset management.

Standardization helps SAP SI America mitigate its risk associated with fixed price contracts and compressed schedules. "The MaxValu templates are analogous to the blueprints of a standard model home," says Mark Lehew, industry principal with SAP America's Industrial Machinery and Components (IM&C) Business Unit. "If the goal is affordable and quick, don't deviate from the blueprint. The more you modify the blueprint, the higher the price and lengthier the implementation cycle become." Lehew explained that MaxValu implementation pricing is based on number of users, sites, countries and legacy systems.
