RFID Supply Chain: Xterprise Commits To Microsoft's BizTalk 2006 R2 SOA Platform For Enterprise Applications

Xterprise, a leader in RFID supply chain solutions, is at the forefront of the supply chain market with its innovative Line of Business (LOB) applications and has chosen Microsoft's process server as their preferred SOA/BPM platform. After participating in the BizTalk 2006 R2 Technology Adoption Program (TAP) over the last year, the company has committed to using the new Microsoft platform because it provides best in class RFID capabilities, simplifies interoperability with existing enterprise systems and is relied upon for mission critical processes in companies around the globe.

Traditional supply chain applications are not capable of harnessing the value that RFID reads can provide with High Accuracy, Real-Time, Item Level and Operator-less Data Collection. Customers need higher fidelity components that provide improved real-time capability in a fully-integrated supply chain application. Application providers must respond to support these customer requirements to remain competitive in the market.

"RFID technology enables our suite of supply chain applications and complements and extends our customers' existing ERP applications," said Dean Frew, president and CEO of Xterprise. "We have identified dozens of new application opportunities in the supply chain marketplace, and after investigating all of the available options, we have determined that BizTalk Server 2006 R2 with BizTalk RFID is the best SOA/BPM application platform in the market to exploit these opportunities."

As a result of this deepening relationship between Xterprise and Microsoft, Mr. Frew was invited to address attendees at the Microsoft 2007 Global New Product Summit held today in Taipei. He outlined the Xterprise application strategy and discussed why BizTalk Server 2006 R2 alone is the application platform of choice for his company across all of Xterprise target markets. Mr. Frew highlighted joint customer successes, where the Xterprise and Microsoft-based solutions are already managing millions of RFID-enabled High Definition Supply Chain™ transactions each month.

"The introduction of BizTalk Server 2006 R2 opens the door to a whole new wave of RFID innovation, giving emerging software companies an affordable platform to develop their applications on," said John Fontanella, vice president of research for AMR (www.amrreasearch.com). "A great example is the relationship Xterprise and Microsoft share. It is one example of how the two companies can create cost effective RFID solutions, and collectively realize growth in market share and revenue as a result of their partnership."
