Case Study: Retail Order Fulfillment - LP Pick-To-Light Solution
Tandy Brands Accessories, Inc. was looking to amp up its picking operations to heighten throughput to major customers such as Wal-Mart and Target. The clothing accessory supplier, based in Dallas, Texas, decided that a pick-to-light system – compatible with its current warehouse management system – would give it just the right fit.
"We could not expand on the space we were allotted," says Kevin Koster, VP of Distribution for Tandy Brands. "Ramping up picking to accommodate higher volumes was our logical solution. Our philosophy is: Do more with less."
Tandy decided to make a major leap from its label-based picking philosophy, to a light-directed order selection system.
The Solution
Lightning Pick Technologies installed their LP Pick© solution at Tandy's Dallas and Yoakum, TX distribution centers. The LP Pick solution was selected to maximize the performance and order quality of Tandy's zone picking operations, used to fulfill direct-to-store orders for major customers Wal-Mart and Target.
Lightning Pick's SQL Server-based fulfillment execution tools feature proven integration with Manhattan Associates' WMS to maximize order picking productivity and accuracy. This was a primary reason why Tandy Brands Accessories opted to work with Lightning Pick for their Pick to Light project.
