Printronix Earns Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) Certification
Printronix Inc., a global leader of integrated supply-chain printing solutions, recently announced that the company has completed the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) certification. Over the exhaustive three-year review period, Printronix proved the integrity of its supply-chain security practices. Launched in November 2001, C-TPAT is a joint private-government supply-chain security program led by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) designed to strengthen U.S. border security.
"In this age of the global economy and heightened security, importers rely on the controls maintained by all supply chain partners -- carriers, brokers, warehouse operators and manufacturers -- to ensure the reliability of their security practices," said David Sakai, senior vice president, worldwide marketing, Printronix. "We expect the C-TPAT certification to enhance our worldwide customer relationships by making it easier for our global partners to experience quicker U.S. customs processing. By seeking and achieving this certification, Printronix is supporting measures that bolster U.S. border security."
The C-TPAT certification is voluntary, and participants must commit to comply with the following requirements:
- Conduct a self-assessment of supply chain security using the C-TPAT guidelines
- Complete and return to customs the Supply Chain Security Profile
- Develop and implement an enhanced security program using C-TPAT guidelines
- Communicate C-TPAT guidelines to other companies in the supply chain and build the guidelines into client relationships
- Make preparations for access control, personnel security, education and training, manifest procedures and conveyance of security
