PMMI Reorganizes To Enhance Member Service

The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) announces that it has reorganized its internal operations, creating four business units that will fully support the Institute's mission of delivering vital member programs and enhanced customer service. The four business units include: Management/Education, Market Development, Member Services and Tradeshows.

"All successful association reorganizations focus on one thing: serving members better," reports Charles D. Yuska, president of PMMI. "This effort is designed to support members through focusing PMMI's internal resources and creating a strong collaborative environment between the units."

The four business units will have oversight on the following programs, respectively:

  • Industry Services – This unit will focus on management education programs, technical services, Packaging Machinery Technology magazine, Packexpo.com, external meetings, training certification and outreach to allied associations and organizations.
  • Market Development – This unit will oversee PMMI's international offices in Mexico City, Mexico and Shanghai, China, manage EXPO PACK México and the Institute's participation in other global packaging shows, and support all aspects of PMMI's statistics efforts.
  • Member Services/Communications – This unit will focus on the Institute's meetings, marketing communications efforts including pmmi.org, and database development. In addition, this unit will be resp! onsible for new member recruitment and retention including both genera l and supplier memberships.
  • Tradeshows – This unit will oversee all aspects of PACK EXPO tradeshows including PACK EXPO International, PACK EXPO Las Vegas, EXPO PACK México and PACK EXPO Services.

To fully support the reorganization, PMMI has promoted the following individuals who will oversee each business unit:

  • Tom Egan, vice president, industry services – Egan started at PMMI in 2002 as director of marketing. His experience at PMMI includes overseeing PACK EXPO marketing campaigns and executing industry events including MarketTrends and PackOps. Egan's industry experience includes 12 years at Hoppmann Corporation and Barry-Wehmiller Design Group.
  • Jorge Izquierdo, vice president, market development – For the past 13 years, Izquierdo has served as director of global marketing. At PMMI, he has overseen the development of EXPO PACK México, the creation of the Institute's Mexico City and Shanghai offices and the development of global market research.
  • Matthew Croson, vice president, member services/communications – Croson began at PMMI in 1998 as director of communications, primarily responsible for member focused communications. In 2004, he was assigned member services including programming annual and regional meetings and new member recruitment. His background includes public relations agency experience and high tech company marketing communications experience.
  • Jim Pittas, vice president, tradeshows - Pittas joined PMMI in 2000 as director of expositions, overseeing all aspects of PMMI's domestic tradeshows. Pittas was part of the team that developed PACK EXPO Services and streamlined tradeshow operations. His background includes almost 15 years of tradeshow experience with VNU, Shore-Varrone and Shore Communications.
