NFI Industries Selects UltiPro Suite For Strategic HR And Talent Management

Ultimate Software, a leading provider of end-to-end strategic human resources, payroll, and talent management solutions, announced recently that NFI Industries, Inc., has selected and is implementing core UltiPro for human resources, payroll, and benefits management, as well as UltiPro Recruitment and UltiPro Performance and Learning Management.

NFI is a family of companies dedicated to serving the supply chain logistics industry. Founded in 1932, the company has grown to nearly 6,000 employees to become a leader in third-party logistics. NFI had been using an enterprise resource planning solution, but it did not deliver the breadth of human resources and talent management functionality that NFI's human resources team wanted for more holistic, strategic HR.

In September 2007, NFI selected UltiPro delivered through Intersourcing, Ultimate Software's software-as-a-service model, to:

  • streamline operations,
  • speed and simplify hiring, training, and evaluating NFI's workforce; and
  • enhance executive reporting and decision making.

"We chose UltiPro because we wanted a complete human capital management solution, and Ultimate Software offers the whole package – plus a proven service record," said Rachel Henk, senior project manager for NFI. "We won't have to piece-meal our HR with multiple vendors or systems. We are very excited about the business value we expect with UltiPro."

In addition to the core HR, recruitment, and talent management benefits of UltiPro, Ultimate Software provides a library of standard and customizable reports to help decision-makers develop strategies for employee retention by evaluating trends in workforce analytics or to drive more business efficiency by analyzing such trends as overtime. With UltiPro, NFI can empower remote managers with reporting capabilities over the Web to make more informed decisions. Automating standard processes such as hiring, training, and performance reviews will give NFI leaders more time for planning and other value-based activities.

By managing HR processes with UltiPro and moving toward a paperless environment, NFI also expects a savings in material resources while reducing the inaccuracies that can occur with manual processes.

"Even with the ERP solution we have been using, we typically handle approximately 26,000 pieces of paper each year. With UltiPro, we plan to lower that number dramatically," said Henk.

"Unlike enterprise-oriented solution providers, Ultimate Software focuses only on the human resources industry, and we often hear from new customers that the breadth and depth of the feature-sets that we deliver are much greater than solutions they have been using. With so much built-in functionality, UltiPro is very flexible and adaptable to diverse business models," said Greg Swick, senior vice president of sales at Ultimate Software. "We are pleased to be working with such a strategic group of people at NFI."
