NCR Offers Turnkey Solutions To Help Businesses Accelerate RFID Processes
Predefined software packages unveiled at RFID World in Dallas
NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today announced a set of predefined software packages that can be readily tailored to accelerate the deployment of processes such as those needed to meet increasing radio frequency identification (RFID) requirements in the global supply chain.
The software packages, which will be unveiled at the RFID World conference and exhibition in Dallas, Feb. 27-March 1, have been built into the NCR TransitionWorks™ Software Suite, a comprehensive platform that readily assimilates and manages data from different devices throughout the supply chain.
"Some businesses – particularly firms that are smaller and fast-growing – may not require the full scope and depth of a solution built from the ground up to meet their unique operational challenges. Yet, they still want the accuracy, ease of use and cost saving advantages that our technology brings to RFID processes," said NCR Vice President for Global RFID Solutions John Greaves. "We designed this set of software packages to meet the needs of these businesses with the added benefit of rapid implementation and return on investment."
NCR currently offers five pre-built applications: Compliance, Asset Tracking, Inventory, Notification and Sales. NCR's Compliance package enables manufacturers to create processes that manage a wide configuration of carton- and pallet-tagging operations. The Asset Tracking application enables real-time location of assets – whether material, equipment or people – using technologies including active and passive RFID or bar codes. The Inventory package provides a material tracking ability for all forms of inventory, from raw material receipt to work-in-process, finished goods and shipments. The Notification application monitors activities, notifying personnel or initiating another process when a specified event occurs or does not occur. The Sales package helps assure the timely and accurate delivery of information to a firm's sales force, helping them further build customer trust while saving time.
Touching industries around the world, the NCR TransitionWorks portfolio of global RFID solutions encompasses thoughtware, hardware, tags, services and software, including Teradata data warehouse solutions, to help customers solve real business problems.
The new software packages are among the demonstrations featured at NCR's TransitionWorks Demonstration Center in Atlanta. The center serves as an informational and educational resource for businesses and government organizations as they transition to processes based on RFID and other technologies.
