More Than 100 Healthcare Providers Use Mobile Applications From Lawson Software

More than 100 healthcare providers now use advanced, mobile supply chain offerings from Lawson Software, including Baylor Health Care System, Torrance Memorial Medical Center and Valley Care Health System. These three providers are among the latest customers to license one or more of Lawson's mobile supply chain offerings Par & Cycle Counting, Receiving & Delivery, and Surgical Instrument Management to help control supply chain costs, automate materials management processes and optimize inventory management. The three contracts were signed during Lawson's second quarter of fiscal year 2008, which ended Nov. 30, 2007.

The applications leverage advanced barcode scanning and wireless data transmission throughout the materials management cycle, helping enhance receiving, delivery and inventory processes. By helping to automate and standardize these processes, the applications help ensure faster and more accurate supply tracking and replenishment.

Torrance Memorial Medical Center, an existing Lawson customer, licensed both Par & Cycle Counting and Receiving & Delivery. The medical center will use the applications to help improve overall supply management by more efficiently managing its par locations and improving package processing. These process enhancements, in turn, will help the hospital increase its supply chain efficiencies, reduce supply costs and improve staff productivity. For example, the hospital will use Par & Cycle Counting to automate the maintenance and counting of par and inventory areas so it can replenish supply levels more quickly and accurately.

Lawson's wireless technologies were a natural fit for our complex receiving, delivery and inventory management processes, said Sharif Abdul-Hafiz, project manager, Torrance Memorial Medical Center. The applications flexibility and real-time tracking and reporting capabilities enable us to provide timely information to managers spread out across warehouses, storerooms and other inventory locations.

Torrance Memorial Medical Center is a 376-bed, non-profit medical center that serves residents of the Los Angeles South Bay region. Torrance has approximately 2,700 employees.

These customers join a growing number of healthcare providers that are incorporating wireless applications into their supply chain processes to control costs, said Stacey Hicks, healthcare marketing director for Lawson. Our industry-leading mobile supply chain applications continue to help hospitals nationwide increase staff productivity and reduce supply costs.
