Case Study: MD Logistics

Although not large compared to some global logistics service provider behemoths, MD Logistics nevertheless has complex distribution requirements. They offer either shared or dedicated services to a variety of customer industries in both ambient and temperature-controlled environments. Each customer and industry has specific needs that MD Logistics must serve flawlessly, including support for Free Trade Zone processing.

The challenge MD Logistics was having in meeting these diverse requirements centered on the fact they had a different legacy WMS solution in each facility. These systems lacked state-of-the-art capabilities, especially for parcel shipments, which represent about 90 percent of the total number of shipments. Having two systems also required dual sets of IT resources and expertise.
