Masters In Supply Chain Management At The University Of Bolton, Ras Al Khaimah

Masters in Supply Chain Management at the University of Bolton, Ras Al Khaimah Ras Al Khaimah, July 30th, 2012 The Middle East & other contemporary business markets are becoming increasingly global in nature. Competition hitherto considered local undoubtedly is also getting fierce, not only among product variants, but also in terms of quality and price. In order to gain a sustainable competitive advantage, companies are increasingly focusing on more service for the customer. The UAE in particular has seen partnerships, alliances, and networks being established at different levels for participants to leverage synergies. The modern day consolidation requires companies to align, bundle, optimize and adapt flows of goods, information and knowledge.

The logistics industry is one of the key service sectors critical to the development of UAE into the Global gateway of international Trade. The manufacturing & logistics sector, together, is an important infrastructure supporting UAE's business activities. With globalisation as the driving force, manufacturing companies are faced with increasingly complex and cross border supply chains that in turn needs complex managerial & people skills.

Coupled with UAE's concept of an international business hub and drive towards regional consolidation as a gateway for international activities, business and engineering logistics become increasingly important to the success of the economy and the enterprise. This M. Sc. programme aims to address the needs of both the manufacturing and service sectors with an integrated and comprehensive programme in the Supply Chain & its Management.

This Master's degree programme is tailored for practising engineers, logisticians, marketing personnel and information technologists employed in the procurement, manufacturing, warehousing transport and distribution sectors. Its objective is to equip these professionals with the expertise for planning, implementing and managing total logistics activities and in managing the supply chain.

The Master in Management (M.Sc.) specialization "Supply Chain Management" qualifies future leaders for planning and controlling global networks. The programme imparts scientifically established knowledge, as well as practice-oriented analysis and solution competences. Students learn to develop, evaluate and implement strategies, concepts, and management approaches in logistics and supply management.

Strategically issues in supply chain management, supply management, and logistics are studied from a theoretical perspective and related to trends, strategic approaches, structures and processes in practice. Both theoretical and strategical issues will be applied to learn about basic and advanced concepts used by companies in industry, trade and service industries. The aim is to identify success factors within these disciplines.

"Today, every business and individual is touched by a supply chain," said Dr. Tony Auchterlounie, Dean of Academic Affairs & Development. "Increasingly, we must rely on effective supply chains or networks to successfully compete in the global market and networked economy. Supply Chain Management recognizes the importance of properly managing each of the components of a supply chain to build and deliver value to customers."
