Manutan Optimizes European Multi-Channel Retail Operations With Manhattan

Paris and Atlanta, GA (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Manhattan Associates (Nasdaq:MANH) customer Manutan, one of Europe's largest suppliers of office and industrial supplies, has completed a successful implementation of the Warehouse Management and Slotting Optimization components from Manhattan's Distribution Management suite of supply chain optimization solutions, at a brand-new distribution center (DC), locally known as 'DREDA' and which is located in Gonesse, to the north of Paris, France. The implementation concludes the first phase of a pan-European roll-out of Manhattan's solutions to support Manutan's continent-wide, multi-channel retail operations.

According to Thierry Sicard, supply chain director at Manutan, "By switching to this new operational model, we are benefitting from a higher degree of operational flexibility, we've reduced order preparation cycle time and improved efficiency in the receiving process. Between 2,500 and 3,000 packages go out of the new DC every day now."

Thierry Sicard continued, "Another key improvement we have made thanks to Manhattan's solutions relates to order consolidation. We process a large number of small orders and have created a specific area on the dock where packages are consolidated according to their packaging type and delivery location. This new process has streamlined the way we manage the high number of small orders we receive."

In parallel to the deployment of Manhattan's solutions at the new DC in Gonesse, Manutan is also deploying Manhattan's Distribution Management platform at its subsidiary in the Netherlands, Overtoom. The Warehouse Management solution will be live in Overtoom's Den Dolder (Utrecht area, Netherlands) DC later in 2011.
