LLamasoft To Provide Strategic Modeling For The USAID | DELIVER PROJECT
LLamasoft, Inc., the leading provider of supply chain network design software, was selectedby John Snow, Inc., to provide strategic modeling software and services for the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT (U.S. Agency for International Development).
USAID | DELIVER PROJECT works with national and international partners to increase the availability of essential health supplies, including contraceptives and condoms, essential drugs, as well as select commodities for HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health, infectious diseases, and avian influenza to clients and customers around the world.
The project focuses on procurement, management, and delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective health products to address health and wellness. A key issue is on-the-ground logistics capacity and the capability of in-country supply systems to effectively manage and distribute these products.
LLamasoft's Supply Chain Guru www.llamasoft.com/guru.html simulation and optimization technology was chosen for its capability to quickly model the supply chain requirements of the large variety of medical commodity needs, including speculating the network required for areas with little or no known logistics infrastructure. The project encourages policymakers and donors to support logistics as a critical factor in the overall success of their health care mandates.
"We selected LLamasoft because of its unique supply chain optimization and simulation capabilities and their desire to apply their technology and expertise to helping low and middle income countries address public sector healthcare supply chains more strategically," said Ryan McWhorter, Technical Advisor to the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT.
"We are very excited and honored by to be selected by JSI as their supplier and partner in supply chain strategy technology" stated LLamasoft President, Don Hicks. "JSI's mission goes beyond profit and loss consideration; their advisors are having an impact on human health and quality of life around the world, mainly in developing country settings. LLamasoft's mission is to help JSI achieve their goals, and make our own contribution towards making the world a better place."
