IWLA Convention: Collaboration — The Wave of the Future
"Collaboration — The Wave of the Future"
Marriott Hilton Head Beach & Golf Resort – March 4-7, 2007
The International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA) will hold their 116th Annual Convention at the Marriott Hilton Head Beach & Golf Resort at Hilton Head, SC, March 4-7, 2007. The theme is "Collaboration – The Wave of the Future." There will be a wide variety of educational and networking opportunities available to those in attendance, as well as a great pre-convention program.
"The IWLA Annual Convention is the best networking event in the warehouse logistics industry. Not only are attendees exposed to many of the industry's key decision makers, but they are also given the opportunity to form lifelong friendships and business partnerships," said IWLA Convention Planning Chairman John Zevalkink, CEO of Columbian Logistics Network, Grand Rapids, MI.
The event will kick off on Sunday, March 4 with a pre-convention conference entitled "The Bottom Line on Security," to be conducted by Renee Alston of American River Logistics, Barry Brandman of Danbee Investigations, David Closs of Michigan State University and Ernie Redfern of Blommer Chocolate. This conference will cover supply chain security, white collar crime, Internet security and information on the new Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT).
One of the many 2007 IWLA Convention highlights will be convention keynote speaker, Sam Geist. Sam's insights stem from years of front-line business experience. He grew his single sporting goods store into a 15-store, $40 million per year national chain before he sold it to his competitor. Sam will question, challenge, inform and refocus convention attendees.
Attendees will also hear an "Industry Outlook" from Rick Blasgen, president and CEO of CSCMP. Rick will share his expertise and outlook on the current state of the logistics industry. Joel Anderson, president and CEO of IWLA, will be providing attendees with a "2007 IWLA Business Outlook." Joel's presentation will discuss the state of the Association and review legislative activity affecting the industry. The presentation will also reveal insights and trends gained through a comprehensive IWLA survey of its warehouse logistics members. Also featured will be a presentation on "Collaboration – The Key to Supply Chain Transformation" by Ralph Drayer, founder & chairman, Supply Chain Insights, LLC, and a "National Providers Panel" featuring speakers from some of the larger companies in the warehouse logistics industry.
Breakout sessions will feature a presentation on security, a Q&A session with Sam Geist and presentations on transportation, government affairs, IWLA's "Logistics Services Locator" and "How to Outperform & Outlast the Competition: The Reality of Change by Chip Scholz, president of Scholz and Associates.
