Intelligent Global Pooling Systems (iGPS) Hires Shipping/Logistics Veteran Rex Lowe As President
Dallas-based Lowe Adds Two Decades Experience Launching Start-up Companies As Well As Corporate Information Technology and Business Development Background
Rex Lowe has joined Intelligent Global Pooling Systems, or iGPS Company LLC, as president, the company announced.
Lowe joins iGPS from OptiLogistics, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Inter Ikea Holding Systems, B.V., of the Netherlands, where he was president and CEO. He is also the former president of pallet and container pooling company CHEP USA, Inc.
Lowe will be responsible for sales, operations, information technology and supply for the company that is the only large-scale outside pallet supply service to use radio frequency identification (RFID) in all units to track shipments. He will be based in iGPS' Dallas office to service the concentration of prospects in that area and will build a significant team of operations leaders there as the company expands.
"Rex's launch of the CHEP USA business transformed the pallet pooling industry from a niche service into a mainstream option for all commercial shipping, growing CHEP USA to a $1 billion operation," said iGPS CEO Bob Moore, himself former CEO of CHEP, Inc.
"Apart from that business development experience, his broad responsibilities in information technology, supply chain and retail logistics at both CHEP and Frito Lay will enable him to build and lead a great team to implement our vision of replacing wood pallets, which currently control 97 percent of the pallet market, with lighter, more durable, reliable and fully recyclable plastic units."
"This is a great opportunity to be part of another transformational business, the very best place at the very best time for my career," said Lowe. "With technological advances in shipping and logistics, plastic pallets are more price competitive than ever with the existing standard wood counterpart. We are already hearing from major retail and pharmaceutical companies looking for more information on the economic advantages of a rental pool when switching to plastic pallets."
iGPS is headquartered in Cos Cob, Connecticut, with operating units in Orlando, Florida, and Dallas, Texas. iGPS is an affiliate of private equity investor Pegasus Capital Advisors, L.P. ("Pegasus").
