i2 Technologies, Inc. (OTC:ITWO), a leading provider of end-to-end supply chain management solutions, announced today the successful implementation of i2 Supply Chain Management (SCM) solutions consisting of i2 Inventory Planner and Supply Chain Planner at National Semiconductor Corporation.

These solutions are designed to increase inventory turnover while improving customer due date performance and contributing to National Semiconductor's overall goal of enhancing customer service and reducing overhead.

"In 1999 we embarked on a supply chain initiative to optimize our supply chain activities through a systematic, focused and phased approach using i2 SCM solutions. To date, this initiative has resulted in a net inventory reduction of $59 million, a 55 percent reduction of obsolete inventory expense and net inventory improving from 3.48 to 5.17 turns," said Si Gutierrez, vice president of central planning & production control, National Semiconductor. "i2 has been a trusted advisor throughout the process of rolling out our supply chain initiatives, and we look forward to furthering our success together."

The i2 solutions are designed to integrate all levels of the company's planning with the goal of streamlining all disparate systems to share the same processes and data.

Additionally, National Semiconductor intends to improve customer service through increased delivery performance as well as integrating its inventory and planning activities.

Inventory Planner and Supply Chain Planner are central components to this initiative, and National Semiconductor reports it has already realized an 85 percent reduction in forecast cycle time.

"Working with our customers on ongoing projects where we can positively impact their business processes presents us with the ideal situation for our teams and products to show their strength," said Pallab Chatterjee, i2 president, Solutions Operations. "Industry thought leaders such as National Semiconductor are paving the way for the future by making these investments now."
