HK Systems, Inc. Enhances Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) Offering

HK Systems, Inc., North America's leading automated material handling equipment and supply chain software total solution provider, today announces the introduction of an enhanced automated guided vehicle family and improved guidance techniques for these products.

The state-of-the-art HK Systems' fork vehicles are offered in a variety of capacities and configurations. The new counterbalance unit provides up to 3,000 pounds of carrying capacity and is ideal for applications requiring flexibility for picking and depositing loads to a variety of elevations and station types, including the floor, conveyor, and stands.

The 2,000 pound fork vehicle offers lift capability up to 20 feet. With this lift, loads can be stored in and out of rack structures using conventional rack and existing fork truck aisleways, thus providing an ideal automated storage solution for work-in-process buffers or an entire warehouse.

In addition to fork vehicles, HK introduces the low profile conveyor deck unit load vehicle, enabling customers to transfer loads to elevations of 14 to 30 inches. Providing up to 6,000 pounds of carrying capacity, this unit is ideal for conveyor to conveyor transfers.

To compliment its current Eagle III technology, HK introduces a new AGV laser guidance technology providing a navigation system that utilizes a spinning laser scanner to measure distance and angle to known targets, allowing the vehicle to triangulate its exact position. The two technologies enable HK to develop the best fit solution consisting of the optimal combination of vehicles and guidance system for customer environments.
