Generix Launches SaaS Site For Warehouse Management On Demand

Generix Group of France, a leading publisher of collaborative software solutions, has launched an interactive website dedicated to warehouse management on demand. The site, www.generixgroupondemand.com, is aimed at logistics providers, manufacturers and distributors, and applies the Software as a Service (SaaS) model to warehouse management.
"The community of decision-makers in logistics is changing. Manufacturers, distributors and logistics providers are currently made up of employees born into the world of the internet, MSN and video games – people accustomed to multimedia communication and entertainment," explains Sylvie Brunet, Director of Marketing and Communication at Generix. "To demystify SaaS, we have worked closely with our customers. We have defined with them the 15 core ideas circulating around, which relate to the SaaS mode. These elements have allowed us to build the site and, better still, create a forum where the feedback on the site is very positive. Nothing is better than the web for promoting the web!"
In October 2009, Generix Group launched the interactive website, which is fully dedicated to warehouse management in SaaS mode. According to their preference, the users can choose their own routes through the program or be guided through the virtual warehouse in SaaS mode. No IT demonstration or technical knowledge is required since, by using SaaS, IT difficulties fade into the background, allowing the user to concentrate on the business of logistics.
The site also includes virtual rooms reserved for Generix's partners, such as logistics provider Veolog, which are already using the solution. CXP, the supply-chain specialist, will be the first guest in the VIP Room. A virtual test (Are you ready for SaaS?) and an online quotation service illustrate the interactivity provided by SaaS.
The site was created by Cabarey, a start-up communications agency, which specialises in audiovisual services, graphics and rich media, and which was selected for its knowledge of the logistics market. The website is available in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese (with two versions, one for Portugal and one for Brazil) and Italian, covering all the countries where Generix Group operates.
For all companies, logistics is a key area that needs to be managed well in order to guarantee and improve margins, with the priority being to reduce inventory. At the same time, customers require quicker deliveries at ever tighter costs, while organisational constraints are constantly evolving. Generix Group has developed WMS On Demand, the software behind the interactive website, to meet this need for performance and return on investment. The company likens the idea behind the software to the butterfly effect: "A beating of wings in the warehouse and the whole supply chain is improved."
When using the software in rental mode, there is no heavy financial investment – the subscription provides access to the software, to shared and hosted servers, and to user support. The company pays only for the logistics used – SaaS allows the users to free themselves completely from computing.
The system and IT support costs are minimal, with no servers to manage, no cumbersome backup procedures and no software updates to run. The system is fully supported by Generix Group's specialists.
WMS On Demand takes into account the best practices in warehouse management, which the company has acquired over the 20 years since it launched its Infolog supply-chain software suite. Since the launch of WMS On Demand in April 2009, many customers have already selected the solution for their logistics, either directly or via a logistics provider.
Kuehne + Nagel use WMS On Demand in Saas mode in order to serve their customers – Virgin and Lavazza – while end-users of logistics services are also interested in SaaS. In order to optimise its supply chain and supply its stores, Carrefour has chosen to equip its Consolidation and Collaborative Centres with SaaS collaborative solutions from Generix Group.
The tool opens up opportunities for logistics companies, big or small, which wish to equip their warehouses with a highly functional warehouse-management solution but are reluctant to invest heavily.
A specialist in mutualised and expert solutions in On Demand mode, Generix Group already supplies 2,100 companies with solutions in rental mode. In 2008/2009, management applications in hosted mode generated €6.4 million of turnover, representing an increase of 35%.
"SaaS is a major focus of our business; On Demand solutions already account for nearly 10% of our turnover, which puts us among the most active publishers in the field. In the context of the current economic crisis, this translates into finding an immediate solution for optimising operations and profit in the short term. It is up to us to convince decision-makers in logistics by reminding them that WMS On Demand is the result of the best practices of 850 warehouses already equipped with the Infolog brand by Generix Group," explains Sylvie Brunet.
