Fleet Management: Wireless Matrix Signs Premiere Cable Industry Customer

Wireless Matrix Corporation recently announced they have signed a contract with a Cable Services Firm for an initial deployment of its FleetOutlook solution across more than 80 vehicles in their service fleet. The firm has approximately 5,000 vehicles in its fleet nationwide.

The FleetOutlook solution, delivered as "software as a service", is a fleet management application that combines vehicle monitoring and mapping capability with an in-vehicle GPS, WiFi and hardware communications platform. It is designed to improve fleet performance while reducing vehicle-operating costs.

Under terms of the agreement, the customer will purchase the FleetOutlook solution to support field operations centered on location and prevention of damage to underground utility equipment ranging from cable and telecommunications lines to electric, gas, water and sewer structures. Deployment of the solution is expected to provide the customer with additional operational efficiencies and to improve overall field technician productivity.

This customer deployment will also utilize FleetOutlook's optional vehicle telematics reporting for fleet vehicles. This technology records the operational parameters of the vehicle for reporting and analysis. Telematics reporting helps ensure proper working order and operation of the vehicle, which can reduce repair costs and extend vehicle life.

"This order represents an important series of "firsts" for Wireless Matrix," said J. Richard Carlson, President and CEO of Wireless Matrix. "It is our first FleetOutlook win in the cable vertical market, a market we deem strategic to the company's growth. It is also the first company in the cable industry to embrace the value of our telematics solution, which we believe will be a key differentiator of our application going forward."
