Fleet Management: Descartes Enhances Routing Solutions With Advanced Mapping Capabilities
Descartes Systems Group, a global on-demand software-as-a-service (SaaS) logistics solutions provider, announced the launch of its enhanced route management solutions with extensive location-based service (LBS) capabilities.
The enhanced LBS technology is being applied across Descartes' Delivery Management Suite of route management solutions and includes new mapping capabilities that leverage expanded road data, historical traffic patterns, real-time traffic information and point-of-interest attributes that are now available in the market. The solutions also have enhanced image quality and rendering speed, enhanced geocoding speed and accuracy, support for larger geographic areas and expanded route optimization related attributes. These advanced capabilities are already being used by over 30 Descartes on-demand route management customers.
"Our customers' needs for accurate location information, combined with the technological and content advances of LBS, are reshaping the future of routing solutions. We saw a tremendous opportunity to offer additional value to our customers with the advances in mapping technology and content that are rapidly coming to market," said Ken Wood, Senior Vice President, Applications Engineering at Descartes. "We are providing our customers with more robust route planning, execution and mobile wireless solutions through better modeling of real-world conditions, more representative display and more real-time data."
"The enhanced route management solution delivers significantly improved map content, greater planning fidelity and improved map rendering speeds for Descartes on-demand route management solutions," said Stephen Tallevi, General Manager of Grocery Gateway. "Descartes was able to integrate the new mapping technology seamlessly without interrupting our operations."
