Exact Software Extends Business Process Management Tools With Availability Of Exact Event Manager

(Chicago) – At National Manufacturing Week, Exact Software (Andover, MA) announced and demonstrated Exact Event Manager for business activity monitoring (BAM). Event Manager extends e-Synergy, Exact's Web-based tool for managing people and processes, by enabling the enterprise to define specific events or non-events that can trigger e-Synergy workflows for notification, review, and resolution.

Event Manager and e-Synergy augment traditional ERP (enterprise resource planning) solutions, like Exact's Macola ES, with business process management (BPM) tools that enable increased visibility to time sensitive information and cross-enterprise collaboration. "Productivity and profitability are invariably tied to a multitude of business processes. Unfortunately, proactively managing each process can be incredibly challenging," said Mike House, general manager for e-Synergy, Exact Software. "With Event Manager, organizations can allow employees to focus on managing the core business relationships while Event Manager handles the dirty work of tracking and highlighting key milestones."

Event Manager monitors the ERP system's database for situations and events the organization has defined, and triggers alerts and specific actions – such as creating reports or launching e-Synergy workflows and other executable programs – when a defined exception occurs. According to Glenn McPeak, Exact's product manager for Macola ES, system administrators familiar with the Macola ES database structure can be trained to use Event Manager in four hours.

"Event Manager enables a company to operate in a more structured manner by allowing the company to define business rules and exceptions as an integral part of its daily activities," said McPeak. "Once Event Manager triggers a task based on one of these rules, e-Synergy provides a closed loop workflow so that tasks remain visible throughout the company – and sometimes by the customer – until completed."
