Distribution Center: BD&A Opens New 150,000 Square Foot Midwest Fulfillment Center Outside Indianapolis
Bensussen Deutsch & Associates (BD&A), recently announced the opening of a new distribution center in Plainfield, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis. The new distribution center features 150,000 square feet of modern industrial warehouse space that will enable BD&A to provide faster and more efficient fulfillment capabilities to its international customer base. Including the new distribution center, BD&A now occupies more than 235,000 square feet of warehouse space, including its flagship distribution center at its Woodinville, Washington corporate headquarters. BD&A estimates that it will hire as many as 51 new employees in the Indianapolis metropolitan area to staff and manage the new distribution facility.
"The Midwest Fulfillment Center greatly expands BD&A's capabilities to expedite the delivery of brand merchandise and consumer products to our customers, resellers, and partner organizations and strategically positions the company for the next phase of hypergrowth," said Jay Deutsch, CEO of BD&A. "This modern facility adds the necessary capacity to our growing company and provides BD&A with the ability to meet even tighter deadlines. We want to sincerely thank the Indiana Department of Commerce, Hendricks County, and the City of Plainfield, whose assistance was invaluable in taking this distribution center from concept to reality in a very short period of time."
At a time of rising fuel prices and a subsequent increase in shipping costs, the new facility will help BD&A meet growing demand while providing cost-efficient fulfillment capabilities to its customers. The company's Seattle distribution center (representing the second largest port on the West Coast) enables BD&A to receive and distribute products from Asia where several of its manufacturers are based. With many of BD&A's customers located within one-day delivery service of its new Plainfield distribution center, BD&A will be able to ramp up operational capabilities without incurring additional costs, providing the company with greater supply chain flexibility.
"We have been searching for the perfect Midwest distribution locale, one that would provide BD&A with a deep labor pool to help us scale our operations and serve as an important, centralized hub in our continuing efforts to improve customer satisfaction. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation was critical in making this happen and we are excited to be a part of Hoosier Nation," said Deutsch.
