CSCMP To Host Pre-Conference Supply Chain Management Workshops In Philadelphia

The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) will offer four pre-conference workshops on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The events will be held prior to the start of CSCMP's Annual Global Conference at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Workshops include the Global Sustainable Supply Chain Forum, Process Standards for Improved Performance, The "New" Fundamentals: What Matters Now in Supply Chain, and Sales and Operations Planning.

The Global Sustainable Supply Chain Forum will provide a discussion setting in which attendees will learn what companies like Chiquita Brands LLC, Natura, and Procter & Gamble are doing to incorporate sustainable initiatives into their business operations to remain competetive. Other topics affecting international companies will also be covered. These include global trends and local challenges, environmental impacts of logistics, the green supply chain, and sustain-ability strategies. The forum is co-sponsored by CSCMP, the Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain (ILOS, Brazil), and the German Logistics Association (BVL).

Process Standards for Improved Performance will offer specific instruction on how to conduct an assessment of a company's core operating and management processes. Participants will learn how to use CSCMP's Supply Chain Management Process Standards to assess the state of their supply chains as well as to identify gaps in their companies' processes. The program will also cover how to prioritize improvement efforts, present initiatives for management approval, and build a case for change. The workshop will be presented by Mike Ledyard, partner, and Steven Murray, principal and chief researcher, both of Supply Chain Visions, Inc.

Ken Ackerman, president of K.B. Ackerman Company, and Art Van Bodegraven, practice leader with S4 Consulting, will be the instructors for The "New" Fundamentals: What Matters Now in Supply Chain. The workshop will focus on the six key elements that are critical to organizations, including the scope of security responsibilities and techniques in today's world; who is doing what in the "green" movement and how to take advantage of it; creating strengths from diversity; strategies for leveraging supply chain management (SCM); how to build and maintain relationships; and the latest trends in health, safety, and ergonomics and their effect on day-today SCM.

The Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) workshop will provide attendees with an understanding of the evolution of S&OP into integrated business planning (IBP). Discussions will highlight recent trends, alternate industry applications, benefits and challenges of integrating planning processes, and techniques and structure for implementation. The workshop will be presented by Steve Souza, principal, Oliver Wight, and Susan Storch, managing principal, Oliver Wight.

The workshops include networking opportunities and breakfast and lunch. Participants are not required to register for CSCMP's annual conference in order to attend a pre-conference workshop. The cost of each event is $399.00 US for CSCMP members; $299.00 US for CSCMP associate members; $199.00 US for CSCMP student members; and $499.00 for nonmembers.
