European Ice Cream Manufacturer Selects LXE MX7CS Cold Storage Computer

LXE Inc., the wireless logistics computing business of EMS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELMG), recently announced that its recently launched MX7CS cold storage handheld computer has been selected by Lithuanian ice cream manufacturer dadu® for use in its cold-storage warehousing facilities.
"The temperature in our cold stores is -28 degrees Celsius so we needed a product rugged enough to operate in those harsh conditions. In selecting the MX7CS, another important factor was the unit ergonomics: it's convenient to use MX7CS with gloves – it has a handle with a two-finger trigger, big keys and very bright display," says Stanislovas Blinstrubas, director for UAB VIKEDA, owners of the dadu brand. "We also found LXE's warranty and service attractive. The environment in our cold store is extremely tough. LXE's three-year ServicePass program covers us for all repairs, including physical damages. We feel this protects our investment and backs up LXE's claims on reliability," adds Blinstrubas.
The MX7CS is the smallest, lightest handheld on the market specifically designed for highly effective use in sub-freezing temperatures (down to -30 degrees C). The MX7CS completes LXE's industry-leading cold storage product line, which also includes the VX6 and VX7 vehicle-mounted computers, and the HX3 voice computer.
Cold storage is a significant and growing part of the supply chain market. More than 60 percent of foodstuffs require temperature-controlled conditions, according to the European Cold Storage and Logistics Association. Freezer space accounts for 76 percent of the useable temperature controlled space, which in the USA grew 4 percent between 2005 and 2007, reports the National Agricultural Statistics Service in their 2008 survey on the capacity of refrigerated warehouses.
Richard Adams, director of Strategy and Marketing for LXE, concludes, "Our Cold Storage Computing product line has been extremely well received by both facility operators and systems integrators. With their collective expertise and our products, we see rugged mobile computing finally becoming the norm rather than the exception in cold storage."
