Case Study: CHS Says It Best With The Right Partner, Anything Is Possible
CHS Inc. supplies some of the most important products for any society: energy, crop nutrients, livestock feed, grain, food and food ingredients, along with business solutions, including insurance, financial and risk management services. Included with this responsibility, the company operates petroleum refineries/pipelines, and it manufactures, markets and distributes refined fuels, lubricants, propane and renewable energy products.
With nearly eight decades in the refined petroleum business and three decades in renewable fuels, Minnesota-based CHS has developed a reputation as a safe, dependable supplier of high-quality energy products—products that keep homes across the U.S. warm, that keep tractors and fleets running smoothly and that fuel America's cars and buses. CHS ranks as North America's largest cooperative refiner and a significant wholesaler and reseller of refined fuels.
Additionally, the company's energy division provides a one-of-a-kind automated fuel delivery system to local cooperative energy businesses. CHS serves as the delivery liaison between customers, who are typically agricultural and industrial, bulk-business customers, and their end-users and delivers energy directly from the pipeline to end-users' tanks. This process delivers the energy directly from the pipeline to the end-user, which eliminates the need to bulk-store the energy on site. "We've found that this cuts supply chain costs by 30 percent," said Doug Frasier, Operations Manager of the Refined Fuels and Distribution division at CHS.
