Retail Mobility: Securing The Entire Supply Chain
This white paper from MaaS360 by Fiberlink discusses the use of mobile devices in the enterprise and the need for a complete mobile device management (MDM) program to ensure enterprise-wide mobile success and security. It notes that research has shown that not even half of the organizations implementing mobile devices have a roadmap in place before they start down the path.
A recent Aberdeen Group poll has shown that retailers hope to reap the benefits of leveraging mobility by improving the in-store experience through self-checking, shortening lines and deepening loyalty to the brick-and-mortar store. 41% of survey respondents said they expected to add mobile POS capability in the next 24 months.
Mobility presents many risks to retail organizations in terms of security. It is critical to maintain centralized control over devices to secure customer data and be compliant with industry regulations. This control is also necessary to keep systems updated, install apps, track unauthorized installations of apps, and wipe or recover the data from any lost or stolen devices.
