The Global Supply Chain Resiliency Council is being formed to bring together supply chain risk management and resiliency practitioners with luminaries and educators to advance the professional discipline through opportunities to collaborate, develop and share best practices, and be recognized for innovation and leadership. A key goal of the Council is to elevate the profile of supply chain resiliency business challenges and opportunities vis-a-vis the C-level strategic agenda.

“The supply chain resiliency movement deserves an enduring industry organization behind it with formal leadership and dedicated staff that doesn’t depend solely on the efforts of volunteers,” said Bindiya Vakil, Resilinc founder and CEO. “Our vision is that while Resilinc remains the technical advisor and principal sponsor, the Council will incorporate as a not-for-profit with an expanded charter that may include the support of risk management research and benchmarks, as well as standard/best-practice methodologies and frameworks.”

Resilinc also plans to leverage its existing relationships with academic institutions including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Maryland, and Arizona State University to support the development of university-level education programs focusing on supply chain resiliency. The company believes that a cross-pollination of ideas and strategies between the business community and academia will prove to be another unique element of the Council.

The First Annual Global Supply Chain Resiliency Council and Awards is intended to be the premier event in this field and a key channel for member networking and knowledge sharing. Resilinc is pleased to announce that supply chain luminaries from Amgen, Juniper Networks, NetApp, MIT, PwC, and The Risk Project (Gary S. Lynch), will be presenting and leading discussions. More information about the speakers is available here.

“The time is right for a global supply chain resiliency council to galvanize the collective energy of our professional community and to give it a focal point and a strategic path forward,” said John O’Connor, senior director supply chain, Cisco Systems. “The Global Supply Chain Resiliency Council provides a promising platform for democratizing risk management expertise and best practices for all companies and their partners.”
