Most major retailers utilize some form of light-directed order fulfillment, commonly called pick to light (PTL) in their distribution centers. The technology is generally acknowledged to provide the highest unit pick rate achievable while maintaining the flexibility of a people-focused manual system. PTL started in the United States in response to a demand from the retail sector for a system that could increase productivity and accuracy.
